Engineer/graduate engineer

HR Wallingford is a global civil engineering hydraulic consultancy with projects, offices and representatives worldwide. We are looking for a dynamic individual to be part of the growth of our UK team, delivering projects worldwide. 

About the role

  • Assist with project delivery ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget liaising with clients and working closely with other engineering and modelling specialists;
  • Undertake design work, principally engineering design of coastal structures;
  • Prepare drawings, plans and specifications;
  • On occasion, support modelling work (principally hydrodynamic and wave modelling) working closely with the modelling specialists;
  • Ensure and follow quality control procedures maintaining HR Wallingford’s excellent reputation;
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of proposals;
  • Support business development activities.

We are looking for a Graduate/Junior Engineer with at least two years’ experience in the successful delivery of coastal or maritime projects. You will have graduated from a university with a solid reputation in coastal engineering and you will have completed a MSc in coastal, hydraulic engineering or equivalent.

You will have worked in either a consultancy or an engineering organisation ideally covering all aspects of engineering studies including modelling of hydraulic/coastal processes and design of coastal structures. You will have some understanding of the UK and/or Middle East region in terms of projects and client typical requirements/expectations. You must be able to demonstrate strong technical skills and excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
