Engineer/graduate engineer (Middle East)

HR Wallingford is a global civil engineering hydraulic consultancy business with projects, offices and representatives worldwide. We are looking to grow and deliver more of our projects in the Middle East region, with principal focus on the GCC countries. We want a dynamic individual to be part in the growth of our local delivery team in the UAE. The candidate will receive initial training in the UK before relocating to the UAE.

About the role

  • Assist with project delivery ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget, liaising with clients and working closely with other engineering and modelling specialists based in the UK;
  • Undertake design work, principally maritime engineering design of coastal structures and marine infrastructure;
  • On occasion, support modelling work (principally hydrodynamic and wave modelling) working closely with the modelling specialists based in the UK.
  • Ensure and following quality control procedures maintaining HR Wallingford’s excellent reputation;
  • Support the maintenance of relationships with our clients and local partners in the region, working closely with the local and international team;
  • Support others in the identification and tracking of project opportunities working closely with our business development managers based in the region and our UK office;
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of proposals.

We are looking for an Engineer/Graduate Engineer with at least two years’ experience and a track record in the successful delivery of coastal or maritime projects, ideally in the Middle East.

You will have graduated from a university with a solid reputation in coastal engineering and you will have completed a MSc in coastal or hydraulic engineering or equivalent.

You will have experience of working in either a consultancy or an engineering organisation ideally covering all aspects of engineering studies including modelling of hydraulic processes, design of coastal structures, navigation and mooring, and dredging. You will have some understanding of the region in terms of projects and client typical requirements/expectations. Ideally you will have worked in the region for the last two years and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the region. You must be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent technical skills.

The position will initially be based in our UK offices, and then relocated to Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
