Senior dams engineer

Would you like the opportunity to progress your career by joining our growing dams and reservoir business? Significant recent project wins mean that we are looking for an experienced Senior Dams Engineer to join our team.

HR Wallingford is a world-leading research and consultancy organisation. From flooding to shipping, offshore energy to climate change, we advise clients worldwide how to manage the water environment.

You will join our flood management team at HR Wallingford and become a key member of our team of dams engineers, numerical modellers and software developers. Knowledge of related areas such as hydrology, flood control, hydropower, water supply, risk assessment and asset management will provide the strong technical foundation in dams and reservoirs engineering required to make the role a success. This is a growing business area giving you the opportunity to support and have involvement in innovative research and development projects.

You will have:

  • A degree in civil engineering.
  • Chartered Status (CEng) with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge of the UK Reservoirs Act 1975 and key industry guidance documents.
  • Proven project management skills for studies, design and construction projects.
  • An interest in leading research and development projects in this area.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent inter-personal and client liaison skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Openness to short term (<4 weeks) overseas travel.
  • Current (or within ~1 year of) appointment to the Supervising Engineers Panel would be desirable.
  • Experience of tailings dams engineering would be desirable.
