Senior engineer - Equipment, technology and innovation

HR Wallingford is a world leading engineering consultancy for the water environment. One of our specialities is conducting physical modelling studies of the coastal environment in our 14,000 m2 test facilities located in South Oxfordshire. To support the delivery of these projects we have developed class leading equipment, software and instrumentation which we now supply to testing facilities worldwide.

Over the last 10 years this area of the business has grown significantly and we are now looking for a Senior Engineer to join the team and help us deliver projects to maintain our market leading position. You will work within our Equipment, Technology and Innovation Group as part of a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers, so you will need to be comfortable working across this breadth of disciplines.

About the role

Your primary focus will be managing the full project life cycle including developing specification, design solutions, procurement activities and commissioning systems. All projects need to be delivered to our high standards, on time and within budget and therefore experience of successfully managing both the supply chain and the end user is a prerequisite. In addition, the successful applicant will undertake product development activities to allow us to offer customers cutting edge technology, keeping us at the forefront in our market.

Skills, knowledge and experience

You should be able to demonstrate the following essential skills to be considered for the role:

  • Proven project management experience (minimum 2 years) delivering electromechanical systems
  • Degree level qualifications in either a mechanical or electrical discipline
  • 2D and 3D drawing packages (AutoCAD and Solidworks experience preferred)
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations to validate the design
  • Excellent spoken and written English

The following experience is desirable:

  • ETHERNET/ETHERCAT knowledge.
  • Drive controller system development.
  • MRP systems.
