Technical Director, Engineering

HR Wallingford is a global civil engineering hydraulic consultancy business with projects, offices and representatives worldwide. We are looking to recruit a Technical Director in the Engineering Group to support our consultancy and research projects particularly in the maritime and energy sectors worldwide.

Want to get on board? You will need a strong engineering background and excellent communication skills. It would be an advantage if you have Middle East project experience and on site experience. 

You will have:
  • A demonstrable depth and breadth of Civil and Structural design knowledge in maritime/coastal engineering  At least twenty years of consultancy and construction experience
  • A Chartered Engineer qualification (MICE or preferable FICE)
  • A proven track record of writing proposals and winning projects.
  • Experience of working overseas
  • An ability to work to work well as part of multi-disciplinary teams, leading the design development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • An interest in research and development.

You will be based at our Howbery Park offices near Wallingford, in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.

The main responsibilities of the successful candidate include:
  • Maintain and develop the Company’s engineering capability in the ports/maritime field
  • Project Director or Project Manager role as appropriate
  • Provide individual input to projects based on specialist expertise, including acting as expert witness
  • Undertake business development through identifying opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Client management including identify and build relationships with key players
  • Actively be involved in bidding and proposal writing
  • Provide input to research and technical development
  • Staff mentoring and potentially line management.

Salary range £56,599 to £87,962 per year.
