Supporting International Women in Engineering Day 2018

Posted: 21-Jun-2018

International Women in Engineering Day – INWED – being celebrated on Saturday 23 June, is once again raising the profile of women engineers, and focusing attention on the world of career opportunities open to girls in the engineering industry. Schools, colleges, universities, companies and professional organisations are all getting involved to highlight positive role models and inspire the next generation of engineers.

We spoke to some of the inspiring women engineers working at HR Wallingford and asked them what they do, what they like most about their jobs, and what inspired them to go into engineering.  Take a look at their profiles and find out what they told us.

Yohama – Principal Coastal Engineer

“Engineering is a great career choice for anyone who enjoys maths and science, and who is interested in solving real-life problems."

Marta – Principal Engineer

“Working on engineering projects can take you to many different countries and allow you to see them from a different perspective to the one you usually have as a tourist.”
Gina - Water Resources Engineer

“Don't be afraid of seeking support from people who inspire you, and get involved in STEM activities.  There are so many roles and opportunities for women in engineering, and engineering is a career where the sky is the limit!”
