Working at HR Wallingford

HR Wallingford is based at Howbery Park, Oxfordshire, our campus set within 70 acres of countryside on the banks of the River Thames. We are proud of our reputation as a world-leading organisation, and we recognise that our success is due to the qualities and skills of our people. To attract and retain the right staff, we offer competitive salaries and an excellent benefits package that includes a pension scheme, flexible working hours, childcare vouchers, staff restaurant and a sports and social club. HR Wallingford is an equal opportunities employer.

Professional development

We support the development of our scientists and engineers through a programme of continuing professional development. We encourage them to gain appropriate professional qualifications with organisations such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

Our graduates are able to gain practical experience working on varied, technically exciting research and consultancy projects and they will find themselves working alongside and mentored by some of the brightest minds in the industry, as many of our staff are acknowledged as world-leaders in their fields.

HR Wallingford is an Open University Affiliated Research Centre (ARCs). ARCs are higher educational institutions or commercial or public sector research organisations with research degree awarding powers, and many of our staff have successfully completed PhDs via this route.

Personal development of all staff is supported through our internal training; this covers areas such as project management, time management, expert witness, report writing and negotiation.
