Quality management

Projects are carried out under our certified Quality Management System (QMS). Our QMS complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 for the provision of analysis, information, advice and support in civil engineering and environmental hydraulics and in the management of water and the water environment.

Environmental management

HR Wallingford recognises that, as an organisation, we must take responsibility to manage the environmental impacts of our research and consultancy activities, both direct and indirect. We have made a formal commitment to manage and reduce our environmental impacts by implementing an Environmental Management System that has been successfully certified to the ISO 14001:2004 international standard.

In March 2011 the significant environmental aspects of our activities were considered to be:

• emission of greenhouse gases
• water use and discharge of treated water
• consumption and disposal of hazardous substances to land and water
• discharges to land (including landfill).

These environmental aspects were considered when developing our environmental policy and in setting our environmental objectives and targets.
