HR Wallingford is at the forefront of climate change risk assessment in the UK and internationally. We specialise in translating the latest scientific research into practical policy advice, adaptation strategies and decision support tools. We work in partnership with our clients to understand their climate sensitivity and vulnerability, assess their capacity to respond and then implement practical steps to improve their resilience to climate change.

Areas of expertise

Climate change risk assessment

We assess the risks related to the current and predicted impacts of climate change, to a range of time horizons. We develop methodologies to assess risks and vulnerabilities for a whole spectrum of sectors.

Long term flood risk management strategies

We help to assess the potential impacts of climate change on flood risk, and to develop long term investment strategies to thereby enhance climate resilience.

Climate change and water security

We help to quantify the impacts of climate change and variability, both physically and economically, on supply and demand, to assess the likely effects upon long term water security.

Helping companies plan for climate change

We review the way companies are planning to cope with climate change, and recommend approaches to help integrate climate change adaptation into company strategies.

Commitment to climate change mitigation and adaptation

HR Wallingford has ISO 14001:2004 registration, and we are committed to the integration of environmental considerations across all areas of activity. This extends beyond our internal practices and procedures to the services which we provide to clients.

Our Howbery Park campus has been developed with sustainability in mind. We have two new BREEAM Excellent rated office buildings, including Kestrel House, our award-winning UK headquarters building. We have also installed a 3000 panel solar farm which supplies a large portion of our annual energy requirement.
