The scope of the role will be to assist/support the day to day running and maintenance of our large physical modelling test facilities and help with physical modelling construction projects.

About the role

This is a busy and varied role that will require the successful candidate to provide support to the Workshops, Building Team and Maintenance Team when required and especially during high workload periods.

This is a hands-on role that will need practical skills, patience, adaptability and self determination to solve problems and find solutions.

About you

You will have a background in construction and/or engineering and whilst work experience in carpentry, joinery, general building, metal working and pvc pipework is desirable, it is not essential. You would have a willingness to learn these skills and the company will provide appropriate training.

A full driving licence is essential and you will already be holding, or be capable of acquiring, with the companies sponsorship, the necessary certification to operate heavy plant machinery including forklift, excavator, dumper truck, etc.

This is a busy role and you will be comfortable with multi-tasking and coping with unplanned situations. You will be in direct contact with the Physical Laboratory team and wider company staff members so will need excellent communication skills. A can-do approachable attitude is essential.

An ability to read complex drawings and interpret them to fabricate bespoke items is desirable but a willingness to learn such skills and develop your career will be part of the role. Depending on your level of experience you may also provide support and mentoring to those team members who are early careers.

All members of the team must adhere to the company's Health & Safety policy and safe working practices at all times.
