Group Head of Manufacturing Production

As a specialist water-focused consultancy, we build and test scale models to help us explore developments in the coastal and marine environments and our facilities are some of the largest in the world. To support this work, we develop specialist equipment, software and instrumentation for our engineers and scientists, and we also supply these to other facilities around the globe.

Our Equipment, Technology and Innovation (ET&I) group – a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers – is focused on developing and supplying this equipment.

Due to our recent growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Group Head of Manufacturing Production to join our team and drive forward our thriving equipment and technology business.  This is a senior management role within the group, based in our Manchester office.

Join us, and help us to develop and deliver our class-leading portfolio to international clients.

About the role

Our product portfolio stretches across high quality wave generation, instrumentation and data acquisition systems used by universities and marine research facilities worldwide.  The development of our wave generation and data acquisition systems over the last 30+ years has recently (2019) been supplemented by the acquisition of the highly-regarded Kempf and Remmers (K&R) brand of instrumentation to measure forces and movements on vessels and marine structures.  We also design and supply remote platforms for survey related activities on inland water.  Innovation and customer focus are the keys to our success

You will play a key part in managing the production of all equipment in our portfolio and have overarching management responsibility for the manufacturing teams based in Manchester and Oxford, working closely with the Group Head of Engineering and Project Delivery and other members of the senior Equipment, Technology and Innovation (ET&I) team.

  • Procurement including taking a lead in material management including management of pre-production activity including goods received and stores, ensuring sufficient material and/or components to deliver the manufacturing plan. Also developing supplier relationships.
  • Staff management including recruiting and fostering staff development
