Maintenance Assistant (Ref:2021_28)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive Physical Laboratories group.

About the role

We have a part-time vacancy for a Maintenance Assistant in our Laboratories Group, based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

The Laboratories Group build accurate models, primarily from wood and concrete, in our extensive test facilities.  To get an idea of the work of the Group you can see information on our facilities, and a video showing an example of the construction team’s recent work, here:

Duties include painting, tidying, sweeping, assisting in the construction of models for civil engineering projects and general maintenance of the model facilities.  The majority of work will be undertaken indoors.

This is a flexible role, anticipated at 2-3 days per week, with exact hours open to negotiation.

About you

You will have experience in the building trade or other practical knowledge or involvement. You will have good communication skills with the capability to work from verbal instruction. Self-motivation and a positive, ‘can do’ attitude are required attributes.   Additional skills such as carpentry, metalworking, basic welding etc. would be beneficial.
