Quality Assurance and Product Test Engineer (Ref: 2020_06)

Can you help us expand our thriving marine equipment and technology business? We have a new opportunity for a Quality Assurance and Product Test Engineer to join our specialist Equipment, Technology and Innovation group, based in Manchester, UK.

We build and test scale models to help us explore developments on the coastal and marine environments and our head office facilities in Oxfordshire, UK, are some of the largest in the world. To support our projects, we have developed a range of specialist equipment, software and instrumentation for our engineers and scientists. We also supply these to other research facilities. About the role

At our Eccles facility in Manchester, UK, we design and manufacture precision measuring equipment used around the world by marine hydrodynamic research institutes. These range from simple force measuring devices through to complete facilities, and encompass a wide range of engineering disciplines.

We are looking for a multi-disciplined quality assurance, and product test and inspection engineer to join our specialist design and assembly group in Manchester.  Whilst based in Manchester, your skills will also support our manufacturing operation in Oxfordshire, with occasional visits required.  The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the high quality our customers expect from our products
  • Implementing quality assurance
  • Conducting product tests and inspection
  • Set-up and calibration of instruments prior to dispatch
  • Assisting with the dispatch of products
  • Processing any returns and warranties
  • Maintaining the CE documentation for, and CE marking of products
  • Managing some aspects of health and safety in the workplace

Our customers are situated around the world and there may be the need for you to travel to customers sites to assist with calibration and Site Acceptance Tests of the equipment.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has prior experience / track record in Quality Assurance, testing and inspection
  • Has some experience of managing health and safety in the workplace (preferably with IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ qualification)
  • Can work well in a team
  • Is hands on and can provide practical solutions to problems
  • Has experience of using MS Office
  • Is flexible and willing to take on new challenges
