We provide advice and guidance in all areas concerning the safety of dams and reservoirs: from inspections by qualified Panel Engineers and sediment management strategies to risk assessments for reservoirs and dams, early warning systems and flood mapping. We collaborate on some of the most nationally significant dams and reservoirs projects worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Dams and Reservoir Business as an experienced Senior/Principal Engineer (Dams)  where you will be a key player in our Dams Asset Management & Sediments (DAMS) team of civil engineers, numerical modellers and software developers.

About the role

You will be responsible for a portfolio of reservoir supervision commissions and projects. Managing your own portfolio of reservoirs, carrying out site visits, as well as producing annual statements and other reports is a large part of the role. What sets us apart is the chance to be involved in innovative dam-related research and development projects working with, and learning from a team of world-leading reservoir and dam experts. This role involves some short term overseas travel.

As with all our roles we offer flexible working arrangements. We offer ongoing training and development opportunities and pride ourselves on our collaborative, inclusive and supportive work environment.

You will have a degree in civil engineering, hydrology or geotechnical engineering along with Chartered Status (CEng), experience of working the UK reservoir industry and able to demonstrate you professional experience related to dams and reservoirs. This is an opportunity for you to lead research and development projects related to dam safety. You will enjoy working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams using your excellent interpersonal skills and client liaison skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English will need to demonstrated.

An aspiration for progression to the All Reservoir Panel is desirable but not essential. Ideally you would be willing to take on management responsibility and be within a commutable distance to our offices in Oxfordshire or be happy to relocate but again this is not essential.

Ideally you would have a current appointment to the Supervising Engineers Panel, or are working towards being  appointed soon which we can support. In addition you will have:

  • Knowledge of the UK Reservoirs Act 1975 and key industry guidance documents.
  • Proven project management skills for studies, design or construction projects with the ability to manage your own portfolio of Supervising Engineer commissions.
  • Successful bid writing experience.
