Andy Brown
With over 35 years in hydraulic consulting and software, Andy brings global commercial experience and a strong focus on long‑term resilience. He leads our digital growth, energy transition work and international development, helping clients navigate complex water challenges with confidence.
Andy was appointed Joint Chief Executive of HR Wallingford in 2025, bringing more than 35 years of experience in hydraulic consulting and software. He originally joined the organisation in 1986 as a graduate engineer and spent nearly two decades overseas, ultimately leading the Group’s commercial operations in Asia. During this period, Andy played a central role in developing Wallingford Software into a global business ahead of its sale in 2009.
After leaving as part of the senior management team of Wallingford Software, Andy re joined HR Wallingford in 2013 as Director of Flood and Water Management. He became a Group Board Executive Director in 2017, initially responsible for commercial activities, before being appointed Joint CEO.
In his leadership roles, Andy has focused on building long term organisational resilience and ensuring HR Wallingford remains responsive to evolving global water challenges. He has overseen the development of the company’s energy transition plan and led geographical and market diversification to strengthen stability and support sustainable growth. His commercial leadership has also secured high value equipment manufacturing contracts internationally, reinforcing HR Wallingford’s reputation for reliable, technically robust solutions.
Andy is now leading a renewed strategic focus on growing HR Wallingford’s software business. He is guiding the development of advanced digital tools that integrate analytics, modelling and innovation, enabling clients to make informed decisions and manage complex water issues with confidence.
Known for his collaborative and pragmatic approach, Andy works closely with clients, partners and colleagues to ensure strong technical delivery and long term value across all areas of the organisation.
