Project to ensure future water security for Saint Lucia

We’ve begun work on developing a 20-year Master Plan for Saint Lucia, which will play a vital role in ensuring water security for the growing population of the Caribbean island and contribute to sustainable economic development.

Our team - Nigel Walmsley, Katie Woollard, and Alberto Riera – led a kick-off meeting in Saint Lucia last month for the project, which will develop a climate-resilient water supply and wastewater plan for Saint Lucia’s Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO). Funding for the assignment comes from the Caribbean Action for Resilience Enhancement Programme (CARE) and will take 12 months to complete.

The Master Plan will establish the current balance between water supply and demand across the country and will consider all viable options for achieving long-term water security. Our team  will evaluate the environmental and financial impacts of the various options for enhancing both water supply and wastewater management. Our analysis will incorporate projections for climate change and population growth, ensuring that the future needs of the island are fully planned for.
