Tom Matthewson appointed as Director of Markets and Research

Tom Matthewson has taken on the new role of Director of Markets and Research. He brings more than 30 years of experience in environmental consulting, leadership, and market development across the maritime, flood and coastal risk, energy, and defence sectors. Tom previously worked for us where he led our Ports and Marine Sustainability business sectors.

Since leaving HR Wallingford, he has further expanded his leadership impact, most recently serving as the lead for Environmental Services UK and Europe at BMT, where he focused on innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and translating scientific and technical expertise into practical solutions.

A Chartered Environmentalist and Fellow of CIWEM, he brings deep expertise in shaping market strategy, driving commercial impact, and collaborating across sectors to deliver research with real-world value. Tom shared what excites him most about re-joining us:
